Answers to the questions we hear most about ordering, sizing, styles, colours, durability, delivery and installation. Can't find what you need? Give us a call or send an email.
Yes. The minimum order is 5 metres, then in 1 metre increments to a maximum of 20 metres powder coated, or 25 metres uncoated. Every run is manufactured at our Somerton factory to the length you need, cut to the job, not pulled off a shelf.
The standard pedestrian gate is 1000mm between posts, and the standard driveway gate opening is 3000mm between posts. Gates can be made for non-standard openings, so send us your opening size for a price.
Measure the gap between the posts (or between the post faces where the gate will hang), at the point the gate will sit. For driveway gates, note which side you'd like to open first when looking from the street, and we'll take it from there.
Pedestrian gates can be hung from either side. Driveway gates have one leaf which opens first, and looking from the street, we'll ask which side you'd like to open first.
Yes, for non-standard openings. Standard sizes are priced at the listed rate; anything outside those gets quoted individually, so just send through your opening size for a price.
Fittings are supplied and powder coated to match the gate colour. Posts are generally sourced locally to suit your installation, and our accredited installers can supply and fit them for you. Call or email and we'll confirm exactly what your job needs.
Seven standard gate styles (A to G), built on galvanised tube frames with stainless steel scrolls and silicon bronze welding. Every scroll is stamped "Emu Wire Industries". You can also send us a photo of what you're after and we'll tell you if we can make it.
We supply approximately 45 colours from the Dulux Duralloy solid colour range, powder coated to match your house and fence. Fittings are powder coated to match the gate colour.
Plain galvanised is the economical, low-maintenance option with a classic silver finish. Powder coated adds a factory colour finish that blends with your home, and is the choice for heritage and character properties. Both start from the same 4mm LifeMax wire.
Our woven wire fences come in three standard heights with varying roll lengths, powder coated or galvanised. Tell us your height and length and we'll confirm what suits your property.
Emu Wire is made from 4mm One Steel LifeMax wire, a protective coating that combines an aluminium and zinc layer for both passive and galvanic protection, a step up from old-style galvanised coating and built for Australia's varied weather.
Brush down or hose off dust, salt spray and garden debris weekly, and wash with mild detergent and warm water about three times a year. Coastal properties should do both more often, as salt air accelerates coating breakdown. No coating lasts forever, but this routine keeps it factory-fresh for years.
